Varna is Bulgaria's third largest city and the main port for both naval and commercial shipping. Tourism is of great importance to the city, with the nearby resorts of Albena, Golden Sands, Constantine and Helena, Riviera and many others, each year attracting millions of visitors from all over the world.
The total population of Varna is 465,012, which is 5.4% of the whole population of the country. The city of Varna is the third largest city in Bulgaria and the largest city in the northeastern region. The city is situated on the Black Sea, extending into the Bay of Varna.
